MARCH 14, 2015 – The American Staffing Association put out list of the top 10 jobs going unfilled.
- Occupational therapists
- Truck drivers, heavy and tractor-trailer
- Occupational therapy assistants
- Photographic process workers and processing machine operators
- Physical therapists
- Speech-language pathologists
- Forest and conservation technicians
- Internists, general
- Merchandise displayers and window trimmers
You’ll notice more than half of those jobs are in health care. In the next decade, 20% of consumer spending will be on health care. The New York Times reports 21 million of us will work in health care by the next decade. That’s 5 million more people than than now!
Health care jobs generally pay more on average than other jobs you would get with equivalent education doing something else. That’s not true in all costs. But it is true in most.
Now, you may not have an interest in health care or any of those fields, or you may not be happy doing any of those things. But they are the fields that are hardest to fill at this time. With some 9 million people being underemployed or unemployed in the U.S. right now, these jobs are at least worth a look on your part.
