MAY 5, 2015 – A Kansas bill that provides protection for physicians who get a retainer directly from patients is headed to the governor, the Wichita Business Journal reports.
The legislation backs the growing trend of direct primary care, sometimes called concierge care. In this model, physicians contract directly with patients, rather than insurance companies.
The bill would make clear that these contracts, themselves, don’t constitute insurance.
