MARCH 24, 2017 – The big discussion in the American Health Care Act now is around essential health benefits. These are the required services every plan has to provide to be considered qualified coverage under the Affordable Care Act. Pregnancy coverage, mental health care, emergency services, hospitalization, prescription drugs, preventive services, outpatient care, and laboratory services are currently included in all health plans. This broad coverage is part of the reason plans cost so much.
