Bethesda company Aledade Inc. — which specializes in helping independent physician practices build accountable care organizations to better coordinate care for patients — is continuing its national expansion with a new partnership with UnitedHealthcare. The 3-year-old company said it will partner with UnitedHealthcare to create an accountable care program for more than 15,000 Medicare Advantage plan participants in Arkansas. The announcement comes just a few months after Aledade raised $20 million in March from CVF LLC, an affiliate of Henry Crown & Co., and the University of Texas Investment Management Co. to close the company’s Series B1 round. Aledade had raised another $20 million in January from Biomatics Capital Partners, a venture firm co-founded by Boris Nikolic, former chief scientific and technology adviser to Bill Gates, with participation from GV, formerly Google Ventures and the independent venture capital arm of Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOG). The Maryland Venture Fund, as well as existing investors Venrock and Arch Venture Partners, also participated.
