In early 2017, the heated congressional fight over the future of the Affordable Care Act defined the conversation around health care. More recently, the Trump administration and Republican lawmakers managed to remove the individual mandate — one of the Obama-era law’s central accomplishments — as part of the sweeping tax reform bill passed in late December. The uncertainty has kept local care providers on edge. “Uncertainty in Washington regarding the future of the Affordable Care Act had a tremendous impact in 2017 and this will most likely continue in 2018,” said Tim Constantine, president of Highmark Delaware. “Our Delaware delegation has been responsive as we look to the federal government to provide clarity on these issues.”
