CMT SPOTLIGHT: Meet Dr. Ian Kroes — Concierge Services – No Longer Just for Hotels

Peninsula Doctor – Give the Very Best

Peninsula Doctor concierge medical practice of Dr. Ian Kroes in the Menlo Park, Palo Alto area maintains a unique approach combining old-fashioned medical values and respect for the individuality of his patients with the latest, most effective medical treatments available.  Dr.Kroes offers a level of personal care, compassion, and trust that many of today’s practices have lost.   The initial patient assessment isfrom sixty to ninety minutes long, validating the commitment to developing a strong physician/patient relationship.  This also allows the patient care to expand from just illness care to well-being care, including nutrition resources, fitness resources, mood assessment such as depression or anxiety, and a focus on overall improved health and happiness based on mutually developed goals.

How does a concierge physician practice differ from what is considered a traditional practice?  According to an article from Kiplinger’s Personal Finance Magazine, a concierge physician offers a more personal care experience:

1) More dedicated care model.  For a flat monthly or annual fee, physicians offer their patients the option to their care any time, day or night, at the office or at home, and to schedule same-day appointments for illness issues.  For those tired of crowded waiting rooms or delays, this feature may be especially appealing.

2) Many concierge physicians limit their number of patients to ensure they can provide the enhanced level of service.  As a client, this will be very beneficial; as a prospective client, it may mean a wait list for the physician of choice.

3) The concierge model allows the physician time to actually create a relationship with the patients.  Additionally, dependent on the practice, it may also include additional preventive tests that aren’t typically covered by insurance companies, such as an expanded blood panel and Alzheimer’s screening.  In some cases, physicians have cited this enhanced relationship as they reason they may have been able to identify concerns and possibly provide a diagnosis more quickly.

Dr. Ian Kroes has impressive credentials, graduating with honors from UC Berkeley and doing his residency in Family Medicine at prestigious UCLA Kaiser.  He is board-certified and has trained in Pediatrics, Sports Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Geriatrics.  He also lectures at Stanford School of Medicine.  After opening his private practice in 2016, he was named one of the Top Doctors by Concierge Medicine Today in 2017.

He has deep connections with all Bay Area retirement communities, and close relationships with specialists at El Camino Hospital, Stanford Hospital & Lucile Packard Children’s hospital, PAMF, as well as private physicians in Menlo Park, Palo Alto, San Carlos, Atherton, Redwood City, Portola Valley, Los Altos, and Mountain View.
