Ultimately, Madwar believes NCH is aiming to move to a fully employed medical staff of physicians, similar to the approach Cleveland Clinic tried when it built a satellite hospital in North Naples. That hospital opened in 2000 but failed to get a full line-up of physicians necessary for an employed-hospital model. The hospital is now owned by Physicians Regional Health System. NCH does not have a goal of an employed physician approach, Curry, the NCH spokeswoman, said.
The Naples City Council was urged Wednesday to take a stance on a policy change at the NCH Healthcare System that will end the ability of independent primary care physicians to admit their patients to its hospitals.
