Women in health care face bias

Women in health care are being overlooked for promotions because of their gender, Modern Healthcare reports, citing findings from executive search firm Korn Ferry. As many as 55% of executives acknowledged that women had been passed over for more senior positions in a survey of 200 hospital and health systems. Moreover, two-thirds of respondents described their development programs for women leaders as fair, poor or non-existent.

  • Women comprise 80% of the health care workforce but hold less than 20% of leadership roles.
