The headline, My Doctor Wants Me To Pay A Yearly Subscription Fee—And That’s Increasingly Common, caught my eye. The article focused on two emerging models of primary care—concierge health care (paid for by an annual fee and insurance) and direct primary care (paid for with a monthly fee but not accepting insurance). At this point, adoption is small but growing. In 2019, there were around 12,000 physicians practicing concierge medicine (see What Is Concierge Medicine?).
