Canada has a payment problem. Fee-for-service no longer works. There are enough family doctors in Canada. They’re just now rewarded for over-servicing their existing patients. Meanwhile, they aren’t rewarded for taking on more patients. They can make more money (to pay back staggering student debts and wildly expensive houses) by working in walk-in clinics, doing locums or being hospitalists.
