We are excited to provide a virtual opportunity to hear from Duke’s Dr. Thomas Buchheit on non-surgical, effective methods to treat injuries or degenerative joint conditions.

There are a growing number of innovative treatment options in the US. Dr. Buchheit and Michael Tetreault will discuss Duke’s Autologous Serum, it’s uses, and efficacy with mild to moderate arthritis patients.

Duke’s Regenerative pain Therapies Program offers a spectrum of treatments for musculoskeletal and arthritic conditions. These treatments are based on the inflammation-resolving research in the Center for Translational Pain Medicine in addition to years of investigation by the eminent physician-scientist, Dr. Peter Wehling, who is aninternationally-renowned expert in molecular orthopedics in Dusseldorf, Germany.

Regenerative therapies harness the body’s healing potential and are customized to meet each patient’s needs. Dr. Wehling has teamed up with Dr. Buchheit at Duke to provide these treatments in the US.

About Dr. Thomas Buchheit

Buchheit serves as Director of The Regenerative Pain Therapies Program in the Duke Center for Translational Pain Medicine. He practices Pain Medicine at both Duke University and the Durham Innovative Pain Therapies clinic. His research focuses on the local and systemic inflammatory mechanisms that drive pain in arthritis and nerve injury. He has led and participated in several multicenter research projects that have studied patients at Duke, the Durham VAMC, and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, clarifying post-amputation pain phenotypes and mechanisms that drive the chronification of pain. These research pursuits have guided the clinical and translational programs of the CTPM that strive to develop biologically based methods for the treatment of arthritis and degenerative musculoskeletal conditions.

1. The program’s overarching goal is to move beyond opioids, steroids, and anti-inflammatory medications for the treatment of pain. “The Regenerative Pain Therapies Program and Duke’s Center for Translational Pain Medicine has expanded our understanding of how to promote healing, and how to use the chemistry of blood and tissue to create an environment that reduces pain and improves function.” Dr. Thomas Buchheit.
