USPSTF Issues Draft Recommendation Statement on Screening for Breast Cancer: All Women Should Be Screened Every Other Year, Beginning at Age 40

On May 9, the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) posted a draft recommendation statement on screening for breast cancer. Recommendations made by the USPSTF are independent of the U.S. government. They should not be construed as an official position of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality or the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The Task Force is now recommending that all women get screened every other year starting at age 40. The draft recommendation also urgently calls for research in key areas.
