Findings  In this cohort study of 314 998 participants with over 12 years of follow-up, the study team observed that prefrailty and frailty were associated with a 26% and 87% increased risk of PD, respectively. The genetic risk of PD modified the association between frailty and PD.

Meaning  These findings indicate that physical frailty is a potential risk factor for PD and the assessment and management of frailty might have clinical significance in the at-risk population.
