History matters. Not because the past is perfect, but because it is instructive — and because the industry we are part of today was built by real decisions, made by real physicians, under real pressure, over more than two decades.

A lot has happened in concierge and membership medicine since the mid-1990s. The vocabulary has changed. The models have multiplied. The critics have come and gone. And through all of it, the physicians who built something lasting shared a common trait: they were deliberate. They did not drift into this. They chose it — carefully, thoughtfully, and often at personal and professional cost.
- The CMT Annual Report (Updated for 2026)— a PDF overview designed for those with a business or research interest in the space who want the essential data, context, and trajectory without the full editorial depth.
One of my favorite authors, put it plainly in his book Deep and Wide: “We don’t drift in good directions. We discipline and prioritize ourselves there.”
That sentence captures something essential about every physician in this space who succeeded — and something equally honest about every one who struggled.
It is impossible to capture twenty years of an industry in a single document. We have tried anyway, because we believe this record matters — not just as a historical exercise, but as a working resource for the physicians, consultants, and healthcare leaders who are making decisions right now based on lessons this industry has already learned.
This year, as in years past, we have organized that record into three forms:
- Physician Perspectives and POVs — a curated collection of 100+ quotations from physicians, consultants, and independent voices who have shaped, challenged, and advanced the concierge and membership medicine conversation over the past two decades.
- An Abridged History of Concierge Medicine — a documented timeline of the events, decisions, and cultural moments that brought membership-based medicine from the margins of American healthcare to where it stands today.
- The CMT Annual Report (Updated for 2026)— a PDF overview designed for those with a business or research interest in the space who want the essential data, context, and trajectory without the full editorial depth.
Each of these is built for you — the physician considering a transition, the practice already in the model, the consultant advising both, and the curious observer trying to understand what this industry actually is and where it is actually going.
For you. For Doctors. For the record.
