New tool from CMT gives physicians an illustrative valuation range and shows, in real dollars, what an unprepared exit could cost, as industry data shows most practice sales fail to deliver expected value.
ATLANTA, GA — September 2026 — Concierge Medicine Today (CMT) today announced the launch of its Exit Value Calculator, a free interactive tool built to help physicians understand what their concierge or membership-based practice might be worth, and what gaps in readiness could cost them, ahead of a sale, partnership, or succession transaction.
The launch of this free tool comes as consolidation activity across the concierge medicine industry continues to accelerate, driven by geographic expansion, technology investment, rising operational costs, and physicians seeking liquidity and wealth diversification after years of building their practices, according to Dana Jacoby, Founder and President/CEO of Vector Medical Group, and Gary Herschman, Esq., Co-Chair of the Health Care Transactions Group at Baker Donelson, guest contributors and writing Concierge Medicine Mergers, Sales & Succession — What’s Accelerating the Market of the trend.
Independently, research cited by the Boston Consulting Group and Investopedia indicates that 70 to 90 percent of business sales fail to deliver their expected value, with sellers often accepting discounts of 10 to 30 percent tied to disorganized financial documentation or excessive owner dependency, factors that are addressable well before a sale process begins.
The Exit Value Calculator asks a physician for their practice’s annual revenue and overhead, then produces an illustrative valuation range using two standard methods, a revenue multiple and an EBITDA multiple, each sourced to published 2025-2026 industry benchmarks. A set of readiness checkboxes, covering financial documentation, operational independence from the owner, and membership retention stability, adjusts where the estimate lands within that range, and translates any gaps directly into a dollar figure representing what an unready exit could cost.
“Exits don’t usually fail because the practice was bad,” said Michael Tetreault, Editor-in-Chief of Concierge Medicine Today. “They fail because owners wait too long to prepare, or walk into a negotiation without knowing what buyers are actually looking for. This tool won’t replace a real valuation professional nor is it an appraisal, and it says so plainly, but it gives a physician a real, sourced starting point instead of a guess ahead of a conversation they should have with a valuation and exit professional.”
CMTs free calculator tool also includes deal-structure guidance, full sale, earn-out, and private equity platform partnerships, along with the real estate lease considerations relevant to physicians who own their practice’s medical office, both drawn from Jacoby and Herschman’s published recommendations for physician owners and CMTs years of industry interviews about practice succession from healthcare experts.
CMT’s Exit Value Calculator is free to use and available now at conciergemedicinetoday.net, completing CMT’s three-part Decision Tools suite alongside the Career Readiness Assessment and the Model Clarity Calculator, covering the full arc from considering a transition to eventually planning an exit.
Disclaimer: This tool produces an illustrative estimate only. It is not a formal business valuation, fairness opinion, or appraisal, and does not use a practice’s actual financial statements or buyer market data. It is not financial, legal, tax, or accounting advice. Before pursuing a sale, partnership, or succession transaction, physicians should engage a credentialed business valuation professional, a healthcare transactions attorney, an accountant, and, where applicable, an investment banker experienced in concierge or membership-medicine transactions.
